The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) has announced it will hold its 55th Annual Education Conference from July 22 to July 26, 2026, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
APRI is an organization composed of Black trade unionists focused on promoting racial equality and economic justice. The institute was established in 1965 by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin to continue advocating for the rights of working Americans.
A. Philip Randolph played a key role in labor history by founding the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters in 1925. This group led Pullman porters in efforts to address low wages and racial discrimination, achieving union recognition in 1935. In 1978, the Brotherhood merged into what is now known as the Transportation Communications Union (TCU/IAM), continuing Randolph’s vision for organized labor.
The upcoming conference will gather labor leaders, activists, and members from across the United States to discuss issues facing workers today. Attendees can participate in training programs and educational workshops aimed at developing leadership skills and advancing racial and economic justice.
Participants will also have opportunities to network with other union members, hear from expert speakers, and learn strategies that can be applied within their own communities and workplaces.
Further information about registration and additional conference details will be released soon. A tentative agenda for this year’s event is available for download as a PDF.
