Astralintu has chosen Viasat to provide ground antennas for its equatorial ground network, aiming to improve satellite data services in regions such as the Southern Caribbean, South America, and the Eastern Pacific. The new antennas will be located at 0° latitude in Ecuador and are expected to be operational before the end of 2026. This move is intended to fill a gap in ground segment coverage and offer high-speed downlink capabilities for earth observation and scientific data.

By joining Viasat’s Real-Time Earth (RTE) network, Astralintu’s customers will gain access to a global infrastructure, including an existing site in Accra, Ghana. The partnership allows Astralintu to accelerate revenue generation by leveraging Viasat’s established GSaaS customer base.

Kent Leka, Vice President and General Manager of Antenna Systems at Viasat, stated: “Viasat is proud to support satellite operators and GSaaS providers like Astralintu with its compelling combination of ground segment solutions. As the only antenna provider with a global ground service, we enable customers to quickly generate recurring revenue through RTE’s existing network.”

Matías F. Campos Abad, CEO and Founder of Astralintu, said: “We’re excited to partner with Viasat to leverage their proven ground antenna systems expertise and join the Real Time Earth network as we continue to deploy Astralintu’s Equatorial Ground Station Network. Viasat’s antenna technology and global ground services accelerate our ability to deliver equatorial GSaaS coverage, unlocking the full performance benefits of equatorial access for both existing and new customers.”

The collaboration comes amid rising demand for global ground station services due to growth in low earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations and multi-orbit networks. Industry projections estimate that this market could reach $500 million within five years.

Leka added: “This collaboration reinforces Viasat’s position as a partner in providing end-to-end ground segment capabilities, creating long-term value for customers through advanced antenna technologies and global ground network services. Viasat is responding to ground segment market needs and delivering greater coverage and connectivity for satellite operators worldwide.”

Astralintu is developing its Equatorial Ground Station Network along the equator with goals of offering longer satellite passes, higher contact frequency, and improved performance for multi-orbit missions under international standards.
