Faculty researchers at the University of Colorado are being reminded to submit their applications for the 2026 Boettcher Webb-Waring Biomedical Research Awards. The program, created by the Boettcher Foundation, aims to support early career investigators with independent research opportunities.

A new requirement this year is the Intent to Apply form, which must be submitted by Friday, January 9. This step is intended to help ensure that the selection panel has appropriate expertise for reviewing applications.

The awards offer up to five grants of $250,000 each over a period of up to three years. Recipients will receive the title of Boettcher Investigator in recognition of their achievement.

Since its inception in July 2010, the Boettcher Foundation has provided more than $17.6 million in funding to 75 current Boettcher Investigators at CU.

Eligible faculty from all four University of Colorado campuses are encouraged to apply. To qualify as an early career investigator for the 2026 award year, applicants must be within four years of their initial career-track academic appointment as of January 1, 2026; not have previously received a major independent research award; have obtained a terminal degree or completed initial medical residency on or after January 1, 2016; and be either a U.S. citizen or permanent resident at the time of application.

Further details about eligibility can be found at http://www.cu.edu/bfww/eligibility.

Applicants are advised not to contact the Boettcher Foundation directly regarding this process.
