The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 6 that both eastbound and westbound lanes of US Highway 50B will be closed at the Interstate 25 and US 50B Interchange in Pueblo to allow for a traffic shift needed for ongoing construction. The closures, which are scheduled between April 9 and April 11, are part of a project with contractor SEMA Construction.
These lane closures are intended to ensure safety while crews move traffic south on US 50B. Eastbound US 50B will be closed from I-25 to Hudson Avenue/Bonforte Boulevard starting at 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 until 6 a.m. Friday, April 10. Westbound US 50B will close from Hudson Avenue/Bonforte Boulevard to I-25 from Friday evening through Saturday evening. Detours using CO Highway 47 will be in place during these times.
After the completion of this phase, traffic along the affected section will be reduced to one lane in each direction as construction continues. The department has provided maps for detour routes and reminded motorists that access between certain directions on I-25 and US 50B remains closed during this period.
