The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), working with Elam Construction, has finished a resurfacing and bridge improvement project on Colorado Highway 82 near Twin Lakes. The work covered about seven miles of roadway, stretching from Mile Point 78, one mile west of Twin Lakes, to the intersection with US Highway 24 at Mile Point 85.2.

Regional Transportation Director Jason Smith commented on the significance of the project: “This is an important rural route, and Lake county is one of many examples of an area that has benefited from a range of CDOT improvements over the past few years,” he said. “The new asphalt will add years of life to the highway, provide a smoother road surface and will add durability by increasing the resistance of ruts and road damage.”

The completion marks another step in CDOT’s ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in rural parts of Colorado.
