The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), together with Elam Construction, has finished a resurfacing project on Colorado Highway 141 near Gateway. The work covered approximately 13 miles, stretching from Mile Point 107 at Larsen Canyon south of Gateway to Mile Point 120 at Turner Gulch north of Gateway. The project began on July 7 and concluded in October 2025.
Jason Smith, CDOT Regional Transportation Director, stated, “CO 141 is a scenic and historically significant route that winds through the western region of the state. In addition to supporting tourism, the highway serves as a vital link for connecting rural communities. The new surface will make this route more reliable.”
The project involved applying two layers of asphalt overlay paving, replacing guardrails, and repairing bridge decks at two locations. Crews also added shouldering material along both sides of the roadway to improve safety by creating a smoother and more stable surface for vehicles returning to the road.
