The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), in collaboration with Siete, Inc., will start resurfacing and safety improvement work on the Interstate 25c business loop north of Walsenburg in mid-November. The project area extends from Mile Point 2.3 at Pine Street to Mile Point 3.3, just west of the mainline I-25.
The planned improvements include widening shoulders, adding turn lanes, and resurfacing the roadway. Additional work involves installing embankment, concrete stormwater pipes, lighting, and a soil nail wall. CDOT states that these upgrades are intended to enhance road conditions and safety for both local residents and travelers passing through the area. The project is scheduled for completion by summer 2026.
Region Transportation Director Shane Ferguson said, “The I-25c business loop just north Walsenburg is heavily traveled by residents and tourists. These improvements provide safer business access and provide a smoother road surface.”
