The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 14 that eastbound Interstate 70 is closed at Exit 205 in Silverthorne, just west of the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel, following a severe multi-vehicle crash. There is currently no estimated time for reopening.
Motorists traveling eastbound are being rerouted over Loveland Pass (US 6) to rejoin I-70, but due to the severity of the crash, drivers approaching the tunnel should expect to be turned around for several hours. Winter driving conditions are also being reported throughout the I-70 Mountain Corridor.
Travelers are advised to exercise caution and prepare for delays. The department recommends checking current road conditions and real-time updates through COtrip.org or by using the COtrip Planner app before heading out.
