By Wednesday, November 26, traffic on Circle Drive will be redirected to a newly constructed westbound bridge. This change is part of a long-term project aimed at replacing aging bridge structures and improving safety and mobility along one of Colorado Springs’ main corridors.

Once the shift is complete, drivers are expected to experience only minor changes as crews begin demolition of the old westbound bridge. The overall project is projected to finish by mid-2026. Upon completion next year, Willwood Tunnel will reopen with a one-way configuration intended to enhance traffic flow and safety for all users.

The Circle Drive Bridges project involves replacing two sets of twin bridges located east of Interstate 25, between Janitell Road and Monterey Road. The bridges, which were originally built in 1963, extend over 800 feet in length and rise about 60 feet above Fountain Creek. They carry two lanes of traffic in each direction and span Fountain Creek, railroad tracks, Las Vegas Street, Hancock Expressway, and the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail.
