The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct paving operations on Colorado Highway 159 south of San Luis next week. The work is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, and Wednesday, September 10, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

According to CDOT, crews will begin paving between Mile Points 2 and 4 on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the operations will shift north to cover Mile Points 6 and 7. Motorists traveling through this area should expect full stops and alternating traffic guided by pilot cars. Delays of up to 15 minutes are possible during work hours.

“Motorists entering the highway from a driveway or intersection must wait for a pilot car before proceeding with the flow of traffic,” CDOT stated in its announcement.

The paving project will affect travel along CO 159 between San Luis and the Colorado–New Mexico state line. The department has advised drivers to plan accordingly due to potential delays.
