The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) will open its next emergency rental assistance pre-application period on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The window will close on Wednesday, June 11, at 5:00 p.m. DOLA aims to serve as many Colorado residents as possible in an equitable and efficient manner.

Emergency rental assistance is available for Coloradans who are behind on rent, meet income requirements and other eligibility criteria, and are at risk of eviction or displacement. Those facing eviction will continue to receive priority for this support.

After the pre-application period closes, all applicants will be entered into a random selection process. Selected individuals will get an email invitation to complete a full application through the online portal within seven days. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria and submit all required documents before the deadline to be considered for aid.

According to DOLA, “In the random selection process, the timing of submission does NOT impact an applicant’s chances of receiving rental assistance. For example, submitting a pre-application earlier in the application window does not increase the likelihood of receiving rental assistance. All eligible applicants who submit a pre-application by the deadline will be entered into the random selection process.”

Residents who need help completing their application or have questions can contact the CARE Center at (303) 838-1200 during business hours Monday through Friday.

The CARE Center also provides additional housing stability services beyond emergency rental assistance applications. These include eviction prevention support, housing counseling, landlord-tenant mediation, legal aid, and other resources tailored to individual needs.

For more information about the pre-application process and frequently asked questions, visit DOLA’s emergency rental assistance website.

If you need help regarding rental assistance, please contact the CARE Center at (303) 838-1200 or info@carecenter.us.
