The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) has opened applications for the position of Director of the Division of Housing. This leadership role is responsible for shaping Colorado’s housing strategy and working to make housing safer, more secure, and affordable across the state. The position has not been available since 2015.
“As we begin the process of selecting the next Director of the Division of Housing, we’re looking for a Director who can build on the progress we’ve made—while embracing new strategies and partnerships to meet the evolving needs of our communities,” said Maria De Cambra, DOLA Executive Director. “Selecting the next Director of the Division of Housing is a pivotal decision. This role is crucial to expanding access to housing people can afford, and ensuring that all Coloradans have a safe and stable place to call home.”
The Division oversees various programs such as federal and state grants, rental assistance, homelessness response efforts, supportive housing services, and regulation of manufactured housing. The incoming director will lead a team close to 200 staff members who collaborate with local governments, nonprofits, developers, and community organizations.
Applicants are expected to have experience in housing policy and public service as well as skills in leading large systems or teams. Commitment to improving housing opportunities throughout Colorado is emphasized as an important qualification.
Applications are open through June 30, 2025 via DOLA’s careers webpage. The new director is set to start in fall 2025.
This search comes as current director Alison George prepares for retirement after serving with DOLA since 2010 and leading its Division of Housing since 2015. George will remain through mid-October during a transition period before stepping down.
Further information about this opening and other roles at DOLA can be found on their careers page.
