The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) has released updated guidance for Proposition 123 Fast Track, along with a redesigned website and two scheduled webinars.

The new guidance offers revised statutory interpretation regarding allowable extensions. It also includes a section that outlines requirements for the Fast-Track review process to comply with Proposition 123, as well as best practices, frequently asked questions, and community examples.

According to DOLA, “The updated guidance provides an easy-to-use section outlining what is required in a Fast-Track review process to comply with Proposition 123, best practices, frequently asked questions, community examples, and more.”

All related materials are now available on the department’s improved Fast Track website. The site allows users to access all information about Proposition 123 Fast Track in one location. Downloadable tools such as a template resolution and self-assessment checklist are also provided.

Two upcoming webinars will address the implementation of fast track requirements under Proposition 123. The first event is scheduled for Friday, September 12 at 9am. This informational webinar will present the new fast track guidance materials and discuss recent statutory interpretations on allowable extensions. DOLA staff will explain the changes and answer common questions about the guidance.

As stated by DOLA: “This webinar will highlight the new changes and DOLA staff will address the most commonly asked questions about the guidance.”

A second event is planned for Thursday, September 18 at 9am as part of the monthly Housing Strategies Peer Exchange series. This panel discussion will feature local government perspectives on policy approaches and implementation efforts related to fast track requirements. The session will be interactive, allowing audience participation and showcasing different community strategies.

“This session will be interactive, allowing audience questions and input, and will showcase a handful of different community types approaching the fast track requirements in different ways,” according to DOLA.

These events are aimed at local government staff or elected officials, consultants, and others interested in learning more about these requirements.
