A resurfacing and culvert improvement project on Colorado Highway 151, east of Ignacio, is set to finish just before the winter holiday season. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), working with Elam Construction, managed the effort.

The project addressed about 13 miles of rural roadway, spanning from the La Plata/Archuleta county line to Old Coal Mine Road, between mile points 12.8 and 26. Work began on February 17, 2025. Crews are currently finalizing punch list items ahead of the scheduled completion date of November 21.

The newly completed stretch features an asphalt road surface and new reflective paint striping between Ignacio and Chimney Rock National Monument.
