The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), working with United Companies, has finished a resurfacing project on Colorado Highway 112. The work covered about 13 miles from the US Highway 160/CO 112 intersection in Del Norte to the CO 112/US 285 junction.
Julie Constan, CDOT Regional Transportation Director, said, “CO 112 is a busy highway for south-central Colorado travelers. Local commuters, as well as agriculture and freight drivers, use this as an efficient connector and rural bypass route when traveling through the San Luis Valley. The new resurfacing will make this valuable alternative route more reliable for Valley travelers.”
The project included a three-application treatment aimed at increasing the road’s durability. In addition to resurfacing, new guardrails were installed at a height of 31 inches to meet updated safety standards. This change is intended to help vehicles stay on the roadway more effectively if they veer off course.
