The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), working with United Companies, has finished a resurfacing project on US Highway 40 in Winter Park. The work covered about four miles between Vasquez Road and Winter Park Drive, starting in May and concluding on October 15, 2025.

“These improvements were identified by both CDOT and the Winter Park community as priority needs, and we are proud to see this significant project completed. The US 40 Winter Park resurfacing project enhances safety, improves mobility for residents and visitors, and strengthens vital connections throughout our mountain region,” said CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew. “By improving the condition of the roadway, we are also enhancing the quality of life for commuters, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Projects such as this demonstrate CDOT’s continued commitment to maintaining and modernizing Colorado’s transportation infrastructure in close collaboration with our community partners.”

The project involved removing old asphalt and laying new pavement along the route. Crews also replaced guardrails and upgraded Americans with Disabilities Act ramps at several intersections including Blaze Resorts, Village Drive, Old Town Drive, and Winter Park Drive. Bridge joint repairs were made at Mile Point 224 in Tabernash.
