The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 1 that the planned overnight full closure of northbound Interstate 25 at Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs, originally scheduled for April 3, has been postponed by one week to Friday, April 10. The delay will allow crews to carry out bridge deck repairs and replace expansion devices on both ends of the bridge. The work schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
The closure is necessary for public safety as crews conduct maintenance work overnight. According to the department, the full closure and detour route will be in effect from 10 p.m. on Friday, April 10 until 4 a.m. Saturday, April 11. Additional closures are tentatively planned for Saturday and Sunday nights through early Monday morning during that weekend.
The Fillmore Street on-ramp to northbound I-25 will also be closed continuously from late Friday night until early Monday morning during this period. Further closures are anticipated later in April and May for both directions of I-25 at Garden of the Gods Road as part of ongoing bridge repairs. Advance notice and updates about these activities will be provided by project officials.
On evenings prior to the rescheduled work—April 3 through April 5—motorists should expect lane reductions starting at 7 p.m., followed by full closures between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., with two lanes reopening each following morning at five o’clock except Monday when all lanes reopen at six o’clock.
