The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 2 that it will start a concrete panel preventive maintenance project on Colorado Highway 115 near Penrose beginning Monday, April 6. The work, conducted in partnership with Acme Concrete Paving, will take place between Mile Point 14 and Mile Point 19.
This project is intended to extend the life of the highway and improve driving conditions for motorists. It involves replacing full and partial concrete pavement panels, repairing surface damage, sealing cracks, installing steel reinforcement to prevent movement in the concrete, diamond grinding for smoother surfaces, as well as guardrail replacement and striping.
Work hours are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. During the initial phase of construction, traffic will be shifted into the southbound lane using a single-lane head-to-head configuration. Speed limits will be reduced throughout the work zone. The project is expected to be completed in fall of 2026.
