The Colorado Department of Natural Resources has announced that it is seeking applicants for the role of Director at Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). The position is open to both residents and non-residents, with applications being accepted through the State of Colorado’s job portal until December 31, 2025.
CPW serves as the state’s main agency for conservation, recreation, and wildlife management. According to the department, “CPW’s mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources.”
The agency manages 43 state parks and more than 350 wildlife areas covering about 900,000 acres. Its responsibilities include overseeing fishing and hunting activities, wildlife watching, camping, trails for motorized and non-motorized use, boating, and outdoor education programs. CPW operates primarily on revenue from license sales, park fees, and registration fees.
The department notes that CPW’s work generates an estimated $6 billion in total economic impact annually throughout Colorado.
Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The department stated: “Applications will be considered from both residents of Colorado and non-residents. Candidates from all identities, backgrounds, and abilities are encouraged to apply.”
