The Colorado Education Association (CEA) has announced its recommendations for school board candidates ahead of the 2025 general election, scheduled for November 4. The organization released a list of endorsed candidates across multiple school districts in Colorado, as well as its positions on certain local offices and ballot measures.
Kevin Vick, president of the CEA and an educator with more than two decades of experience, emphasized the importance of these elections. “School boards hold immense power in shaping the direction of public education, and decisions made there touch everything from classroom conditions to resource allocation to student opportunity,” Vick said. “We need leaders who will put students and educators first, getting politics and political agendas out of our classrooms so schools can focus on what matters most: teaching and learning. Coloradans must elect board members who are committed to strengthening public schools for students and educators in every corner of Colorado.”
The CEA’s recommended candidates span numerous districts including Brighton 27J, Thompson, Academy 20, Canon City, Colorado Springs D11, Denver, Falcon, Jefferson County, Mesa County Valley 51, Pueblo 60 and Pueblo 70. Additional endorsements include candidates in Widefield 3, Cortez, Adams 12, Lewis Palmer, Cheyenne Mountain, Poudre R-1, Adams 14, Boulder Valley, Cherry Creek, Aurora, Huerfano, St. Vrain Valley, Summit County, West Garfield and Steamboat Springs.
For local offices in Longmont city government races this year the CEA recommends Susie Hidalgo-Fahring for mayor and Jake Marsing for City Council At Large.
The association also supports a YES vote on the Thompson R2-J School District school bond measure; details on the measure number are pending.
