The Colorado Education Association (CEA) has published its 2025 Legislative Scorecard, which evaluates the performance of state lawmakers on issues affecting public education. The scorecard highlights legislators who supported increased funding for schools, promoted respect for educators, defended workers’ rights, and worked to advance protections for immigrant students and families.

According to the CEA, this year’s legislative session resulted in the passage of a School Finance Act that added $150 million in funding for public schools. Lawmakers also approved measures aimed at improving workplace protections for educators and reducing punitive accountability policies.

Kevin Vick, president of the CEA and a veteran educator, commented on the importance of these efforts: “Colorado’s students and educators deserve leaders who will fight for them every single day at the Capitol,” said Vick. “This year, we are proud to recognize lawmakers who not only listened to educators, but also acted to strengthen our classrooms, protect public education funding, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.”

The 2025 Legislative Scorecard recognizes “Top of Class” lawmakers for their leadership on key policy issues as well as “Risk Takers” who prioritized students and educators despite political challenges. The full scorecard with detailed highlights and scored votes is available online.
