The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Clean Fleet Enterprise is now accepting applications for its Clean Fleet Vehicle and Technology Grant Program. The application window is open from September 15 to October 24, 2025. Eligible applicants include businesses, local governments, non-profits, schools, and other organizations that operate vehicle fleets.
The program provides funding to replace gas or diesel-powered fleet vehicles with low-emission and zero-emission alternatives. The aim is to reduce air pollution in Colorado.
“Colorado is taking a multi-pronged approach to reduce emissions from transportation to protect the air we breathe. As part of this, I’m excited to continue supporting the grant program,” said CDPHE Senior Director of State Air Quality Programs Michael Ogletree. “Fleet operators who participate will reduce air pollution while saving money. We hope organizations in Colorado will recognize the many benefits of choosing to make the switch.”
Vehicles powered by electricity, hydrogen, or recovered methane are among the options supported by the program. Gasoline and diesel vehicles emit pollutants that contribute to ground-level ozone and greenhouse gases linked to climate change. This effort aligns with Colorado’s broader strategy outlined in its Greenhouse Gas Pollution Reduction Roadmap.
In addition to reducing emissions, organizations may see savings on fuel and maintenance costs when switching to low-emission or zero-emission vehicles. Updated guidelines for applicants are available on the grant program website.
This is the third round of funding offered through this grant initiative. Project selections are expected in December 2025, with contracts starting in early 2026. The enterprise notes that only vehicle acquisitions made after state contracts are executed will be eligible for funding.
Organizations previously awarded grants can apply again if seeking funds for additional fleet vehicles. The CDPHE plans to reopen applications at least once a year through 2033 or as long as funding remains available.
A related opportunity is available through the Colorado Energy Office’s Fleet Zero-Emission Resource Opportunity (Fleet-ZERO) Grant Program, which funds charging infrastructure for electric vehicle fleets. Applications for this complementary program are open from September 15 through October 17, 2025 via https://energyoffice.colorado.gov/fleet-zero-emission-resource-opportunity-fleet-zero-grant-program.
Those interested can find more information about public participation opportunities on air quality or sign up for email updates from CDPHE’s Air Pollution Control Division via https://cdphe.colorado.gov/apcd-public-participation.
“Applicants for CDPHE’s grant program may also be interested in the Fleet Zero-Emission Resource Opportunity (Fleet-ZERO) Grant Program. This complementary program through the Colorado Energy Office supports funding for charging infrastructure for electric vehicle fleets. The Colorado Energy Office’s grant program is open for standard applications from Monday, Sept. 15 through Friday, Oct. 17, 2025.”
