The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has announced several public engagement opportunities for September. The commission encourages members of the public to provide input and participate in meetings related to ongoing proceedings.

One of the main hearings will focus on proposed rulemaking for Clean Heat Plan greenhouse gas reduction targets. This hearing, scheduled for September 18, is part of the PUC’s mandate under § 40-3.2-108(10), C.R.S., which requires setting a target for gas utility clean heat plans for 2035 by December 1, 2025. The process involves consultation with the Air Pollution Control Division of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

A separate hearing on September 22 will address proposed amendments to rail rules implementing HB 25-1110, specifically concerning crossing maintenance cost allocation. More information about this proceeding can be found at https://puc.colorado.gov/puc-home/rail-transit/rail-safety-rulemaking.

Another public comment session is set for September 29 regarding changes to confidentiality rules for investigation reports involving RTD Rail Fixed Guideway systems, as required by SB25-052.

The PUC’s 9-1-1 Services Enterprise Board will meet on September 3 and September 11 from 3 to 4 PM. These meetings occur every two weeks.

The commission also provides a monthly opportunity for public comment during its second weekly meeting each month, with the next session scheduled for September 10 at 9 AM. Meetings are held every Wednesday except holidays and are streamed online via the PUC’s YouTube page. Registration links are posted in advance on the PUC Calendar.

Members of the public can submit written comments referencing specific proceeding numbers through an online form, by email at dora_puc_website@state.co.us, or by mail to the commission’s Denver office at 1560 Broadway, Suite 250, Denver, CO 80202. Oral comments can be left by calling (303) 869-3490 in English or Spanish. Additional details about hearings and registration can be found on the PUC Calendar or at https://puc.colorado.gov/puccalendar.

Interpreting services in American Sign Language and Spanish are available upon request if made two weeks before each hearing by contacting Megan.Castle@state.co.us.
