Colorado Public Utilities Commission schedules public comment hearings for Xcel Energy transmission project

The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has announced public comment hearings regarding Xcel Energy’s siting permit appeals for Segment 5 of the Colorado Power Pathway project. The hearings will focus on proposed transmission line routes in Elbert County and El Paso County.

The Elbert County hearing is scheduled for December 9, 2025, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Agriculture Building, Elbert County Fairgrounds in Kiowa. Light refreshments, a children’s activity table, and Spanish interpretation services will be available.

The El Paso County hearing will take place on January 26, 2026, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Swink Hall, El Paso County Fair and Events Center in Calhan.

Community members can submit written comments through the Commission’s online form or by emailing dora_puc_website@state.co.us. Comments may also be mailed to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission at its Denver office or provided orally by calling (303) 869-3490. Both English and Spanish options are available for oral comments.

All public comments should reference the relevant proceeding number: 25A-0354E for Elbert County and 25A-0355E for El Paso County. Information about the hearings can be found on the PUC Calendar or https://puc.colorado.gov/puccalendar.

Interpreting services for American Sign Language (ASL) and Spanish are available upon request if submitted two weeks before each hearing. Requests should be sent to Megan.Castle@state.co.us.
