The Colorado Springs Airport saw a 5.6% decline in total passenger traffic for November, with 184,377 travelers moving through the terminal during the month. The decrease was attributed to seasonal factors, as well as the U.S. government shutdown and subsequent flight restrictions put in place by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Although Colorado Springs Airport was not on the FAA’s list of 40 airports subject to flight restrictions, operations from those affected airports led to 74 canceled flights at Colorado Springs.
The airport continues to focus on long-term growth by expanding air service offerings and developing airline partnerships. These efforts aim to strengthen its role as a key travel hub for the Pikes Peak region.
Recent developments at the airport include the launch of the FlyMyAirport tool on its website, flycos.com, which allows passengers to search for and book travel options exclusively from Colorado Springs Airport. The first Art at COS exhibition recently closed submissions and is expected to be installed with an opening reception in mid-January.
Southwest Airlines resumed seasonal international service to Cancun on November 22. This route will operate on select dates through April 2026, with tickets currently available for several dates in December 2025 and early 2026. Seasonal service to San Antonio also returned for peak holiday periods, and Southwest has announced that daily service to Houston will begin March 5, 2026.
On November 21, modernization work was completed at Gates 1 and 3. A temporary exit ramp at Gate 1 has been activated to help maintain passenger flow from the concourse to baggage claim during ongoing construction of entry and exit ramps, which are scheduled for completion by early summer next year. Additional improvements—including installation of Terrazzo flooring and a new exit lane breach control system—are planned for January completion within the meet & greet area.
Evolve by Hudson opened for business at the airport on November 21.
