Colorado Springs residents are being asked to participate in a new Vision Survey to help determine the future direction of the city’s parks, trails, open spaces, facilities, and cultural services. The survey is part of the process for updating the Park System Master Plan, which will guide decisions for the next 10 to 15 years.

The Vision Survey follows a recent assessment that examined current conditions and community needs within the park system. This new phase shifts attention toward identifying priorities for the future, such as maintenance, safety, comfort, access to trails, programming options, and investment areas.

“This is an important transition from understanding where we are today to deciding where we want to go as a community,” said Acting Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Kim King. “The Vision Survey gives residents a clear opportunity to help shape long-term priorities for parks, recreation, open space, and cultural services as Colorado Springs continues to grow. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to share their perspective and help guide the direction of the park system.”

The survey asks about topics including how people use parks, safety concerns, system priorities, recreational and cultural programming preferences, as well as funding considerations. Participation is voluntary and takes approximately six to eight minutes. Residents are encouraged to answer based on their own household’s needs and priorities.

The survey will remain open until midnight on Friday, Feb. 13. The results will directly inform updates to the Park System Master Plan by helping set its long-range vision and goals. The updated plan will replace one adopted in 2014.

Residents can access the Vision Survey or find more information about the project at ColoradoSprings.gov/ParkSystemMasterPlan.
