CommonSpirit Health has been named the official health care partner for the Pueblo Punishers, a new professional arena football team in Pueblo, Colorado. The partnership involves St. Mary-Corwin Hospital providing athletic training and medical support during games, as well as sports physicals, concussion management, and expedited access to imaging and orthopedic services.
Lisa Rohrich, owner and CEO of the Pueblo Punishers, commented on the collaboration: “It’s awesome to welcome CommonSpirit as our team’s official health care partner. St. Mary-Corwin has been providing quality care to the community for more than 140 years, so it was a natural fit to partner with them. We look forward to working together to provide a positive impact in our community.”
St. Mary-Corwin’s athletic trainers will be present at every home game throughout the season, which begins on February 28.
The formation of the Pueblo Punishers marks the introduction of professional arena football in Pueblo for the first time. The team aims to bring both excitement and local pride to area fans.
Mike Cafasso, president of St. Mary-Corwin, said: “CommonSpirit is honored to provide compassionate and personalized care to the professional athletes on the Pueblo Punishers team. This team has already made a big impact on the community. Ensuring the team stays healthy before, during and after the game is important and we are excited for the season.”
