CommonSpirit St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs has acquired the Intuitive da Vinci 5 surgical system, making it the first hospital in the CommonSpirit Mountain Region to offer this advanced technology for minimally invasive procedures.

The da Vinci 5 system will be used for a range of surgeries, including urology, gynecology, thoracic, and general operations. The robotic-assisted platform allows surgeons full control, translating their hand movements into precise actions by small instruments inside the patient.

Gina Temple, President of St. Francis Hospital, said, “We are excited to be a leader in this field. The dV5 is Intuitive’s most advanced and integrated platform – designed to transform surgery to enable better outcomes, efficiency, and actionable insights. This system will allow us to care for patients with a variety of urology, gynecology and thoracic needs. We will also use the da Vinci 5 for general surgeries.”

Intuitive Surgical Inc., headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, manufactures the da Vinci surgical systems and other minimally invasive care technologies. The company has more than two decades of experience in robotic-assisted surgical solutions.

The da Vinci system offers surgeons high-definition 3D vision and computer assistance during operations. Its specialized instruments include a miniaturized camera and wristed tools designed for precision during deep-tissue procedures.
