The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced a weekend closure for the eastbound East Platte Avenue on-ramp to southbound Powers Boulevard. The closure is scheduled from 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25 until 4 a.m. on Monday, July 28, as part of ongoing work on the CO 21 (Powers Boulevard) and Airport Road Interchange Project.

During this period, crews will conduct concrete paving operations. CDOT stated that “this full closure is needed for worker and traveler safety.”

Drivers traveling eastbound will be directed to use a signed detour route. The detour instructs motorists to turn right onto Troy Hill Road, continue south for about one mile, then turn left onto Airport Road to reach Powers Boulevard. A temporary all-way stop will be in place at the intersection of Troy Hill Road and Airport Road.

CDOT confirmed that “the westbound East Platte Avenue on-ramp to southbound Powers Boulevard is not impacted by this work and will remain open.” The agency also noted that “this schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change,” with message boards near the project site providing updates.

The ramp closure is planned to end before the Monday morning commute begins.

Motorists are advised that “traffic fines will be doubled in the work zone.” CDOT urges drivers to slow down when approaching work zones, drive cautiously, allow extra space between vehicles, and plan for additional travel time.
