A free workshop aimed at educating renters about their rights and responsibilities under Colorado law will take place on Friday, Nov. 21, from noon to 2 p.m. at Silver Key Senior Services, located at 1625 S. Murray Blvd. The event, titled “Renter Rights 101,” is organized by Colorado Legal Services in partnership with the City of Colorado Springs’ Housing and Homelessness Response Department.

Attorney Clinton Albert from Colorado Legal Services will lead the session, which will address topics such as lease agreements, reasonable accommodations and modifications, deposits, repairs, evictions, and recent changes to state housing laws. Attendees will also receive information about local organizations that offer housing and legal support services.

While presenters are unable to provide legal advice for individual cases during the workshop, they aim to equip participants with practical knowledge to help them handle common rental issues and avoid disputes.

The workshop is open for both in-person and online participation. Those who register have the option to receive presentation slides and a recording of the event.

This class is part of an ongoing series produced through collaboration among several organizations: Colorado Legal Services, Pikes Peak Library District, The Justice Center, Colorado Housing Connects, The Independence Center, Silver Key Senior Services, Community Economic Defense Project, and the City of Colorado Springs Housing and Homelessness Response Department.

More information about registration or virtual attendance can be found at https://coloradosprings.gov/Renters101.
