The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 23 that northbound lanes of Colorado Highway 157 (Foothills Parkway) between Valmont Road and Colorado Highway 119 will be fully closed over the coming weekend for concrete rehabilitation work. The closure, managed in partnership with ACME Concrete Paving Inc., is scheduled to begin with a single-lane closure at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a full roadway shutdown at 9 p.m., lasting until reopening at 7 a.m. Monday morning.

The department said the closures are necessary to ensure safety for both motorists and construction crews while minimizing disruptions during weekday commutes. Northbound travelers will be rerouted west on Valmont Road, north on 30th Street, and east on CO 119 (Diagonal Highway). Eastbound drivers on Valmont seeking access to northbound CO 157 will need to take southbound detours via local streets before reaching their destination. Southbound lanes will remain open throughout the project period.

Motorists using these routes should expect delays of up to fifteen minutes and are encouraged to consider alternate routes over the weekend. Flaggers and uniformed traffic control officers will be present onsite to help manage traffic flow, and drivers are advised to slow down near work zones, watch for workers and equipment, and maintain safe distances from other vehicles.

According to the official website, the Colorado Department of Transportation oversees transportation infrastructure across the state including highways as well as support for aviation and transit projects. The department’s stated mission is to improve quality of life through integrated transportation solutions that safely move people, goods, and information while meeting environmental standards according to its official website. Shoshana Lew serves as executive director of the agency according to its official website.
