The southbound right lane of Peterson Road, just south of U.S. Highway 24, will be closed later this week as part of the ongoing Highway 24 and Peterson Road Interchange Project. The closure is expected to last for several weeks, depending on weather conditions.

Other southbound lanes on Peterson Road will remain open to allow continued access to the North Gate of Peterson Space Force Base. Access routes are indicated with green lanes on project maps.

According to project information, “The US Highway 24 and Peterson Project reconstructs the interchange to provide a safer, more secure, and more efficient transition to the Peterson Space Force Base North Gate. The project will support base access control in day-to-day and emergency operations and account for increased traffic capacity on the adjacent roadways associated with planned growth in the Pikes Peak region. The project considers complete transportation options within the adjacent corridors to include bus and bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and trails.”

For additional details about the project or updates regarding closures, community members can visit ColoradoSprings.gov/US24Peterson or contact the project hotline at 719-272-8860.
