IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen and other union leaders recently visited IAM members at Alaska Airlines Cargo. During their trip, they met with mechanics from both Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines in Seattle and Hawaii.

Johnsen addressed the upcoming representation election involving the IAM Union and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA). This election follows the ongoing merger between Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines. In response to questions from union members, Johnsen issued a public challenge to AMFA for a debate on workforce issues, stating his readiness to participate at any time or place.

“Johnsen publicly challenged the smaller and weaker AMFA to a debate, emphasizing his willingness to meet at any time, any where to discuss issues at stake for the workforce.”
