The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) announced on Apr. 7 that registration is open for its Retirees Assistance Program, which will take place from June 14 to June 19, 2026, at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Hollywood, Maryland.
The program aims to provide IAM retirees with tools and knowledge to address challenges faced during retirement. It is intended to help participants manage issues related to health, finances, and community involvement as they transition into or continue their retirement years.
According to the announcement, attendees will participate in educational sessions on topics such as elder abuse awareness, mental health support, self-care strategies, senior addiction concerns, healthcare navigation skills, and opportunities for volunteering. The program also includes courses on finding local resources, understanding dementia, financial planning and asset protection methods, evaluating senior housing options, preparing for medical appointments, sensitivity training sessions, and guidance regarding advance directives.
Details about tuition costs, transportation arrangements and the curriculum are outlined in the official call letter released by IAM leadership.
This initiative reflects ongoing efforts by labor organizations like IAM to support their retired members with practical education tailored to later-life needs.
