The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is urging all its Districts and Locals to identify and approve members interested in attending the 2026 Pride at Work Convention, scheduled for June 2-4 in Minneapolis, according to an April 9 announcement.
The event aims to promote equality, dignity, and respect for LGBTQIA+ workers within workplaces, unions, and communities. The IAM says this mission aligns with its ongoing efforts to foster diversity and inclusion among its membership.
In a message addressed to union members, the IAM Executive Council said: “Pride at Work’s mission reflects what we stand for as a union: building a labor movement that cherishes diversity, promotes inclusion and ensures safety and dignity for all. Guided by the principle that ‘an injury to one is an injury to all,’ we must continue to oppose discrimination in all its forms and strengthen solidarity across our diverse membership.”
The union also highlighted that supporting such initiatives corresponds with the growth of Human Rights Committees throughout IAM Districts and Locals. These committees are intended to ensure that every member feels welcomed, respected, and included.
Credentialing for the convention will begin on June 1 at the Marquette Hotel in Minneapolis. The IAM advises making hotel reservations by May 1 due to limited room availability after that date. Early registration discounts are available until April 19.
“When we show up, engage, and stand together, we build a stronger, more inclusive IAM Union and a more powerful labor movement for all working people,” said the Executive Council.
