Florida members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) gathered in Tallahassee for a five-day legislative conference. The event brought together union members and retirees who met with state representatives and senators to discuss labor rights, improved wages, and the protection of pensions and Social Security.
Union leaders highlighted concerns about proposed legislation that could impact collective bargaining rights and financial security for workers. They stressed the need to oppose measures seen as harmful to unions.
By meeting directly with lawmakers, IAM members aimed to represent machinists from across Florida, including those working at the Kennedy Space Center, South Florida, and the Panhandle. The conference’s main objective was to influence policy decisions affecting union workers and to prepare for upcoming political events such as the 2026 midterm elections.
