The City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department has announced that the Manitou Incline Trail will experience several temporary closures in September due to scheduled events.

On Wednesday, September 11, the trail will be closed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. for the ninth annual Firefighter Incline Climb, which commemorates the events of September 11.

“The Manitou Incline Trail will be closed from 6-9 a.m. for the 9th annual Firefighter Incline Climb commemorating 9/11.”

A full-day closure is planned for Saturday, September 20, as the Pikes Peak Ascent takes place. The city notes that this closure is due to weather uncertainty and safety precautions.

During this event, access to the summit of Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain via highway will also be restricted until 2 p.m., including for spectators of the ascent. Visitors may make reservations to drive to the summit after that time. The North Slope Recreation Area is set to open at 7:30 a.m., with additional information available at DrivePikesPeak.com (https://www.drivepikespeak.com/).
