Motorists traveling on Colorado Highway 151 between Ignacio and Chimney Rock National Monument should expect delays due to ongoing and upcoming road work. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced that in addition to the resurfacing and culvert repairs taking place from Mile Points 12 to 26 since mid-February, maintenance crews will pave a short segment just north of these boundaries from Monday, July 28, through Wednesday, July 30.

During this period, travelers between Allison and the US 160 Junction may experience up to 30 minutes of extra travel time. Maintenance paving operations on CO 151 between Mile Points 31 and 32 will occur from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday. Motorists should plan for delays ranging from 10 to 15 minutes, with one-lane alternating traffic managed by temporary signals and a pilot vehicle. Those entering the highway from driveways or intersections must wait for the pilot car before joining traffic.

The resurfacing and culvert improvement project on CO 151 continues with daytime work hours set from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Delays of about 15 minutes are expected as one-lane alternating traffic is directed by flagging personnel while crews conduct paving operations and install guardrails.

All scheduled work is subject to weather conditions. CDOT advises motorists to check current traffic impacts at https://www.COtrip.org/. More details about the resurfacing project can be found at https://www.codot.gov/projects/co151resurfacinglaplata.
