National Airlines announced on Mar. 17 that it has upgraded its Airbus A330 fleet with Viasat’s advanced in-flight connectivity, aiming to provide a seamless and high-performance internet experience for its VVIP and charter passengers.
The move is intended to meet the growing demand for uninterrupted access to data-intensive applications, such as high-definition video streaming and artificial intelligence tools, across multiple devices during flights. Crew members are also benefiting from real-time flight updates and improved communication with ground teams.
Christopher Alf, Chairman of National Airlines, said: “National Airlines is committed to delivering world-class service to our expanding base of VVIP and charter passengers, from business and leisure groups to governments, sports teams, and other specialized travelers. As part of this vision, we have strengthened our Airbus A330 aircraft fleet, featuring premium interiors, enhanced comfort and advanced capabilities. We are now excited to partner with Viasat to leverage its proven expertise and cutting-edge technology, enabling us to offer a more personalized, seamless, and connected in-flight experience for our customers.”
Don Buchman, President of Viasat Aviation, said: “National Airlines has a strong reputation for delivering premium, highly tailored charter missions, and we’re proud to support that vision with our advanced in‑flight connectivity. We match the agility of charter aviation with a global network designed for flexibility. Whether mission profiles change or demand shifts, our high-capacity solutions ensure reliable, high-quality performance tailored to the specific requirements of any flight operation. It is also scalable and future‑ready, keeping National Airlines ahead of evolving demands for passenger and operational connectivity.”
The new system uses Viasat’s GM-40 terminal which routes data through the company’s Ka-band satellite network. This setup is designed not only for current needs but also allows scalability as new ViaSat-3 satellites are expected to enter service this year along with future multi-orbit capabilities.
The partnership between National Airlines and Viasat reflects ongoing efforts within the aviation industry to enhance passenger experiences by integrating advanced technology into onboard services.
