The City of Colorado Springs announced on April 13 that motorists will experience lane impacts on North Stone Avenue at Fillmore Street as construction begins for the North Stone Avenue Stormwater Improvements Project.

The project aims to install a new water main at the intersection and is expected to bring changes for drivers and nearby businesses. According to the city, there will be no street parking allowed along the project corridor from April through early 2027. One southbound lane will remain open on the east side of North Stone Avenue, with traffic directed by cones and signage. Access to businesses in the area will be maintained, and efforts will be made to minimize disruptions during construction.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes when possible. The city notes that all work is weather-dependent, so schedules may change as needed.

Utility work for this project began in November 2025. The ongoing improvements include installing new stormwater pipes and drains, relocating a water main, and repairing areas affected by construction. These upgrades are designed to reduce drainage issues in the area and provide property owners with future access to connect to the new stormwater system.

Once construction is complete, crews plan to restore road surfaces, curbs and gutters, driveways, and landscaping within the work zone. The City of Colorado Springs Stormwater Enterprise is working together with Colorado Springs Utilities on this effort in order to reduce impacts on local residents.
