Marksheffel Road will be closed overnight from south of Tarren Heights to north of Stetson Hills Boulevard on Wednesday, January 21 and Thursday, January 22 for drainage work. The closure will begin at 7 p.m. each evening and the road will reopen by 5:30 a.m. the following morning. Construction noise is expected during these hours.

Temporary steel plates will cover pipe crossings during the day on Thursday and Friday. On Friday, January 23, flaggers will direct traffic through a single lane on Marksheffel Road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews place asphalt over pipes installed earlier in the week. Drivers are advised to use caution in the work zone.

A signed detour route will direct drivers to Peterson Road, Dublin Boulevard, and Stetson Hills Boulevard. Tarren Heights will only provide neighborhood access and does not connect to other streets suitable for detours. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and follow posted detour signs.

The construction schedule may change depending on weather conditions.

Improvement of the two-lane section of Marksheffel Road between North Carefree Circle and Dublin Boulevard is a priority for the City of Colorado Springs. Once completed, Marksheffel Road will have two lanes in each direction, a center median, improved drainage, new sidewalks, and paths. More information can be found at www.ColoradoSprings.gov/Marksheffel.
