The City of Colorado Springs has opened a renovated playground at Rampart Community Park, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on November 20. The updated facility introduces new climbing structures, slides, and interactive play features aimed at encouraging physical activity among children. A shade structure and expanded seating have also been added to improve the experience for families visiting the park.
“Rampart Community Park’s new playground gives all kids a fun play space where they can explore, imagine, and work out all their extra energy,” said Britt Haley, Director of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services. “This project shows what a big difference an investment in our park playgrounds can make in our community.”
As part of the renovation, the old sand surface was replaced with artificial grass to create a more durable and easier-to-maintain area. New concrete surfaces were installed, and outdated equipment was removed to update the appearance and functionality of the playground. An Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramp now connects the parking lot directly to the main plaza area, enhancing accessibility within this section of the park.
The $389,644 project received funding from both the Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) Parks fund and the Office of Accessibility. Construction was carried out by Star Playgrounds.
