Remembering James R. Regan: Longtime physician and Colorado Medical Society leader dies at 68

James R. Regan, MD, who served the Colorado medical community for over forty years, died on June 9, 2024, at the age of 68. Dr. Regan was born in Detroit and pursued his undergraduate studies at Colorado College before obtaining his medical degree from Wayne State University in 1982. He completed both his internship and residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver.

Dr. Regan became involved with the Colorado Medical Society (CMS) in 1983 and held several leadership roles during his career. His positions included President of the Denver Medical Society in 2000, chairing various task forces, serving as a member of the CMS Board of Directors in 2003, and acting as CMS Treasurer from 2006 to 2009.

He was recognized by the American College of Physicians as a Fellow, which is awarded to those demonstrating excellence in internal medicine.
