Rocky Mountain PBS (RMPBS) and Xcel Energy have announced a new partnership aimed at improving wildfire preparedness across Colorado. The initiative, called Partners in Prevention, is designed to provide residents with information and resources to help reduce wildfire risks.
The collaboration brings together RMPBS’s public media network and the experience of utilities, first responders, and public agencies. Their goal is to deliver practical information statewide to help Coloradans understand wildfire risks and take steps to protect their families and communities.
The initiative will reach urban, rural, and mountain areas through both on-air broadcasts and online content. It will also include community-based events, virtual gatherings, and educational materials for children and families. The focus areas are wildfire prevention, emergency preparedness, and coordinated community action.
Amanda Mountain, President & CEO of Rocky Mountain Public Media, said: “At Rocky Mountain PBS, our mission is to serve the public good by providing trusted, relevant information that helps Coloradans navigate critical issues. Through Partners in Prevention, we’re working with Xcel Energy and safety-focused partners across the state to amplify lifesaving information—especially to those communities that are hardest to reach.”
As part of the launch of Partners in Prevention, an online resource hub has been introduced featuring guidance on wildfire safety, preparedness tips for families and children, educational content, and links to emergency resources. New material will be added regularly as part of an ongoing effort.
Robert Kenney, President of Xcel Energy Colorado stated: “Public outreach is a core principle of our wildfire mitigation strategy. Helping our customers and emergency responders stay informed and prepared can save lives and property. Preventing catastrophic wildfires takes collective action, and everyone has a role to play.”
Partners in Prevention works with first responders as well as local agencies such as the American Red Cross to support Coloradans before, during, and after emergencies. More details about the program can be found at rmpbs.org/wildfire.
