The City of Colorado Springs and Downtown Partnership are set to reopen the Skate in the Park event at Acacia Park on Friday, November 14. The outdoor ice rink is a recurring winter activity that draws residents and visitors to downtown Colorado Springs.

The opening night will also feature the annual Acacia Park Holiday Celebration, starting at 6 p.m. The event will include performances by the Soli Deo Gloria Choir, a welcome from Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Britt Haley and Mayor Yemi Mobolade, remarks from community partners, a DJ, and a performance by U.S. Figure Skating junior athletes.

Public skating sessions on opening day are scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $15 per session with skate rental included. Children aged four and under can skate for free with a paid adult ticket. There is also a $2 discount for guests who present valid military or first responder identification.

During the season, there will be themed skate nights and special events such as opportunities to skate with members of the Air Force Falcons Hockey Team and U.S. Figure Skating athletes. The rink will remain open daily through January 31.

Skate in the Park is organized by the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department along with Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs. Sponsors for this season include T-Fiber as gold sponsor; The Gazette as media sponsor; silver sponsors like Colorado Air National Guard, Generation Wild (GOCO), Mash Mechanix, Neon Pig, Poor Richard’s, Pikes Peak Library District, Tallgrass, and U.S. Figure Skating; as well as bronze sponsors Adventures Out West, Raising Cane’s, and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College.
