The southbound South Academy Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound Milton Proby Parkway will close at 6 a.m. on Monday, January 26, for water and drainage utility upgrades. The closure is expected to last until the end of May, although this timeline may change depending on weather conditions.
Drivers are advised to use Hancock Expressway as an alternative route to connect to eastbound Milton Proby Parkway. Those heading to Colorado Springs Airport should follow the designated detour from Milton Proby Parkway.
The project is funded by voters through the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA). It marks the first major reconstruction of South Academy Boulevard since its original opening in 1969. The northern section of the boulevard was finished in late 2024.
