Beginning Friday, September 5 at 9 a.m., the intersection of Tejon Street and Pikes Peak Avenue in downtown Colorado Springs will temporarily become an all-way stop. This change is due to ongoing construction related to the Tejon Revitalization Project.

During this period, drivers are advised to follow posted signs and observe Colorado’s multi-way stop law. According to these rules: “Motorists must yield to any vehicle that has already entered the intersection. When multiple vehicles arrive at the same time, yield to the vehicle on your right.”

Traffic signals at the intersection are expected to return once construction is finished.

In addition, a single block of Tejon Street between Pikes Peak Avenue and Kiowa Street will be closed to vehicle traffic for the duration of this phase. Parking on this block will not be available until further notice. Businesses located here will receive vouchers for two hours of free parking at nearby city garages.

Pedestrian walkways will remain open along Tejon between Pikes Peak and Kiowa, ensuring continued access to businesses throughout construction.

The city notes that upcoming community events using Tejon Street include Pipes and Drums Procession (Fallen Firefighters weekend) on September 19-20, “In Their Honor” Veterans Day Parade on November 8, and The Festival of Lights Parade on December 6.

As part of its broader efforts, the Tejon Street Revitalization Project has reopened Tejon from Colorado Avenue to Pikes Peak Avenue for both vehicle traffic and diagonal parking with payment kiosks. The project aims to expand outdoor dining areas and sidewalks, which is intended to improve public safety, pedestrian accessibility, and business activity.
