Colorado Springs is highlighting a range of winter activities suitable for visitors and residents during the colder months. The region’s mild weather and frequent sunshine allow for outdoor adventures even in winter, according to local tourism officials.

Visitors can explore Pike National Forest inside heated off-road vehicles with Great Outdoors Adventures or join Colorado Jeep Tours to see Red Rock Park and other landmarks. The area also offers cave tours at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park, which maintains a steady temperature year-round.

For those interested in history, Manitou Cliff Dwellings provides an opportunity to learn about ancient Puebloan people through interactive exhibits. Horseback riding tours are available in places like Garden of the Gods and Pike National Forest.

The Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center in Divide offers tours where guests can observe wolves, coyotes, and foxes, noting that animals are more active during cooler months. Ice climbing excursions are organized by Front Range Climbing Company on private ice walls suitable for various skill levels.

Other options include Play Dirty ATV Tours at Texas Creek and snowshoeing or hiking on trails throughout the region. Ziplining is available through several local outfitters, offering views over pine forests dusted with snow.

Train enthusiasts can ride The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway for panoramic winter views from America’s Mountain. The Royal Gorge Route Railroad provides another scenic train experience through Royal Gorge.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo operates year-round with discounted winter tickets and both indoor and outdoor animal exhibits. Multiple museums in Colorado Springs—such as Ghost Town Museum and U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum—offer cultural experiences away from the cold.

Finally, the Cripple Creek Ice Festival features live ice sculpting along Main Street, as well as vendors and specialty drinks served at an ice bar.

Doug Price, President and CEO at Visit Colorado Springs, said: “Colorado Springs’ mild temps and ample sunshine make these year-round adventures the ideal way to play in the Pikes Peak region during the winter solstice.”
