Traffic on Garden of the Gods Road, located east of Interstate 25, will be reduced to one lane in each direction this week due to construction work. The City of Colorado Springs is carrying out an intersection safety project that is expected to finish by late March.

On Tuesday, March 3, crews will reduce eastbound traffic to one lane near Mark Dabling Boulevard and Northpark Drive as they install new traffic signal poles on the south side of these intersections. On Wednesday, March 4, westbound lanes will be narrowed while workers install new signal poles on the north sides. Drivers are urged to exercise caution because there will be heavy equipment, work vehicles, and personnel present.

“Motorists may want to choose alternative routes, if possible, to minimize travel delays.”

The median and intersection improvement project began in mid-October. The $1.96 million effort is funded by the Colorado Department of Transportation with additional support from the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority. More details about the project can be found at https://coloradosprings.gov/GOGmedians.
