The U.S. Census Bureau has released new data tables detailing the foreign-born population by generation, based on findings from the 2024 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).

These tables provide information about the employment status, education levels, household income, poverty status, race, age, and sex of three groups: first-generation individuals who are foreign-born; second-generation individuals with at least one foreign-born parent; and third-and-higher generation individuals with two U.S. native parents.

The Current Population Survey is a longstanding and significant survey in the United States. It is recognized as a primary source for monthly labor force statistics and also supports various studies that inform policymakers and the public about social and economic conditions across the country.
